raynor · 2 months agogah! don't buy that ghastly book— it will poison your experience. hawk your grandma's jewels and buy yourself the nice hardback that this book deserves to be printed in.

Laura · 2 months agoI did not buy this book. In fact, I bought a hardcover of an entirely different John Irving novel.

mumblelard · 2 months agoI avoid the movie editions, oprah badged books, and the cheap mass market paperbacks unless I really want to read it now, or it is an author I feel the need to rescue. I treat those books like a sort of religious tract and leave them in waiting rooms, restaurants, and rented cabins when I am done with them. I hope someone will pick them up and get something out of them, but I am not concerned about them possibly being discarded.

Laura · 2 months agoI know what you mean - I too tend to avoid these editions as they make me feel as cheap as the $2 price tag. But alas, I eventually chose a different book all together which ended up being a win win situation
